INTRODUCTION Rather than a comment on the detail of my paper, much of Clarke's piece is a vehicle for him to state his opinion, clearly strongly held, that 'skilled migration intakes are likely to provide long-term net economic benefits for incumbent Australians'. He appears to be reacting to a misapprehension that my paper seeks to convince readers of the opposite. As a result, much of Clarke's comment is ultimately directed at something other than the content of my paper.
